3M™ Dermatac™ Drape

3M™ Dermatac™ Drape is the first, single-use, proprietary silicone-acrylic hybrid drape that is used as an accessory to NPWT systems. Constructed with a precise combination of silicone and acrylic to conform to different anatomical locations. Adapts to the body and provides a highly-effective seal for 48 to 72 hours. Low-tack silicone adhesive allows for repositioning on initial placement and skin-friendly dressing removal, while the high-tack acrylic adhesive helps keep silicone against the skin.

Indications

The 3M™ Dermatac™ Drape is an accessory to the:
• 3M™ ActiV.A.C.™ Therapy System and 3M™ V.A.C.® Simplicity Therapy System which are integrated wound management systems for use in acute, extended and home care settings.
• INFOV.A.C. ™ Therapy System, 3M™ V.A.C.® Ulta Therapy System and 3M™ V.A.C.® RX4 Negative Pressure Wound Therapy Systems, which are integrated wound management systems for use in acute care settings and other professional health care environments where product use is conducted by or under the supervision of a qualified health care professional.
When 3M™ Dermatac™ Drape is used on open wounds, it is intended to create an environment that promotes wound healing by secondary or tertiary (delayed primary) intention by preparing the wound bed for closure, reducing edema, promoting granulation tissue formation and perfusion and by removing exudate and infectious material. Open wound types include: chronic, acute, traumatic, subacute and dehisced wounds, partial-thickness burns, ulcers (such as diabetic, pressure, or venous insufficiency), flaps, and grafts.

When used on closed surgical incisions, it is intended to manage the environment of surgical incisions that continue to drain following sutured or stapled closure by maintaining a closed environment and removing exudates via the application of negative pressure wound therapy.

Contraindications

• Do not place foam dressings of the V.A.C. Therapy System directly in contact with exposed blood vessels, anastomotic sites, organs, or nerves.
Note: Refer to Warnings section of IFUs for additional information concerning bleeding.
• V.A.C. Therapy is contraindicated for patients with:
• Malignancy in the wound
• Untreated osteomyelitis
Note: Refer to Warnings section of IFUs for osteomyelitis information.
• Non-enteric and unexplored fistulas
• Necrotic tissue with eschar present
NOTE: After debridement of necrotic tissue and complete removal of eschar, V.A.C. Therapy may be used.

Warnings and Precautions

DO NOT use 3M™ Dermatac™ Drape over the open abdomen or with 3M™ AbThera™ Open Abdomen Negative Pressure Therapy. Use over the open abdomen may result in an inability to maintain a negative pressure seal.
For all warnings and precautions, please refer to the 3M™ Dermatac™ Drape IFU.
DO NOT use with V.A.C. VERAFLO ™ Therapy (Instillation) provided by the V.A.C.ULTA ™ Therapy Unit. Instillation into the wound dressed with V.A.C. DERMATAC ™ Drape may result in fluid leaks which may result in maceration.

Mode of Use/Application

Before applying NPWT, perform thorough wound and periwound area cleaning per physician order or facility protocol prior to each dressing application. For more detail, please see the Dermatac Drape IFU.
Note: There is no need to use ancillary products. The two adhesive properties of Dermatac Drape help to create an ideal connection between the drape and body to achieve an effective seal. The drape is able to keep a seal and help eliminate leaks at application without any ancillary products.
Cut the drape as needed from handle to handle leaving at least a 5cm border.
• This will allow for easier placement with handlebars in place.
Apply Dermatac Drape loosely over the wound area — do not stretch.
• Stretching can lead to tension when 3M™ V.A.C.® Therapy is initiated.
Smooth out wrinkles and reposition if necessary.
• Repositioning with the handlebars attached can make overall handling easier. Dermatac Drape can be repositioned for up to 20 minutes after the initial application, even after handlebar removal and V.A.C.® Therapy initiation.
• You can reposition the drape several times during dressing application without the loss of adhesion.

Removal & Change Frequency

Remove handlebars by pulling at the perforated edges. Support the placed drape with your other hand as you pull off tabs.
